The retreat of (impressionism) artists in Nida
Located in the Lithuanian part of the Curonian Spit - a peninsula trapped in between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon - Nida is the most northern point of the Impressionisms Route and served as a retreat for the artists of the region!
Jewish Šiauliai, the centre of the leather Industry
Chaim Frenkel chose Šiauliai to develop this leather tanning company in the 19th century. The company sponsored the synagogue, canteen and the library for the factory workers, the school for the Jewish community, the elderly care home, and the hospital.
