The Czech town of Domažlice is close to the German border, around 150km from Prague in the Chodsko region. It’s one of the richest parts of the Czech Republic for folk culture and events, at the crossroads between Bohemia and Bavaria. The Museum of Chodsko, in Domažlice’s 13th-century castle, introduces visitors to local traditions and the town’s history. Architecturally, the town is distinguished by its leaning tower, part of the Church of the Virgin Mary, and its attractive central square. Remains can also be seen of Domažlice’s 15th-century fortifications, ramparts, walls and bastions that once encircled the town.
