A Cultural Gem
Often described as a hidden gem for tourists looking to get off the beaten path, the appeal of Košice has risen since 2013, when it was the European Capital of Culture. Deservedly so, as the Slovak Republic’s second largest town is filled with artistic and architectural masterpieces, from modern street art to the Gothic Cathedral of Saint Elizabeth. Narrow streets lined with colourful establishments house numerous cafes, complete with sunny terraces to sit back and relax. Within the monument-filled Old Town centre, live music and bars come to life over the weekend, for contemporary living on a historic backdrop.
The European Route of Jewish Heritage and Mozart Ways feature stops in Košice.
