Where Wealth and Creativity Meet
The city of Subotica is a main stop along the Réseau Art Nouveau Network, which celebrates the architecture and art movement at the turn of the 20th century. Beautiful buildings from the era—including palaces, hotels, banks—can be found around this tranquil town, which is tucked between the Tisa and Danube Rivers, and became wealthy after the establishment of the Austro-Hungarian empire. That wealth attracted artists of all varieties. It also encouraged creativity to blossom in increasing shows of grandeur.
